What is the PTS in SWTOR?
The PTS or ‘Public Test Server’ is a special server that Subscribed players can access to test unreleased and upcoming game content to provide feedback and bug reports to the developers before.
To access the PTS, you must be an existing Subscriber to Star Wars the Old Republic.
How to install the PTS
Steam:
If you want to play the PTS as a steam user, you need to go to SWTOR’s steam store page and scroll down to find the blue “install the PTS” button.
Swtor.com / Origin Launcher:
Click the settings arrow next to your username after you log in but before clicking play. Then click the button “enable pts access”, once you click save you should now see a Yellow Arrow down the bottom LEFT side of the launcher window, you can click that to swap between the regular game and the PTS.

Once you have landed on the PTS, you can either create a new character or transfer a character for free from swtor.com by clicking the PTS Character Copy button.
PTS Content Guide and Rewards
During Specific game updates, the SWTOR developers may be giving out rewards for helping test specific game updates on the PTS. You can find these achievements required, usually, under the General Tab in the Events Catergory of your Legacy Window. Some achievements are sometimes found within a sub-tab called ‘Game Updates’, pictured below.

Past Rewards
The following rewards were provided to players that tested the PTS for game update 7.6:

- Complete 25 Dynamic Encounters with a Republic character on Hoth
To earn the Strike Team Hero Title and Kai Zykken’s MK-90 Holo-Log Mount, players must:
- Complete 25 Dynamic Encounters with an Imperial character on Tatooine

Completing all of the Dynamic Encounters achievements above will grant players the B1-SAL mini pet droid! Along with this Andor inspired pet, players will also receive the following titles:
- First Line of Defense
- Strike Team Specialist
- Strike Team Commander
- Led the Charge
Past Lair Boss Incentives
For PTS Update 7.6:
To earn the First of Many Title, players must:
- Defeat the Propagator Core XR-53 on Story Mode
To earn the First Among Veterans, players must:
- Defeat the Propagator Core XR-53 on Veteran Mode
Players will be able to keep track of their progress as they unlock PTS Achievements, however, note that these incentives will be granted at 7.6 launch.
Past Dynamic Encounters
The main focus of the 7.6 PTS is to test Dynamic Encounters on Tatooine and Hoth. Dynamic Encounters are limited-time quests that appear for half an hour before dissappearing. New dynamic encounters spawn and repeat roughly every 15-30 minutes.

You can see what Dynamic Encounters are available and how long until they run out of time/expire. Hidden Chain Invasions are rare and only appear once per hour, while each other Dynamic Encounter rotates every 15 minutes with new ones spawning every half hour.

On average, most standard Dynamic Encounters take between 1-3 minutes to complete. Usually it takes more time to travel and reach them then it doesnt complete them.
Hidden Chain Invasions, Imperial Attack! and Republic Attack! usually take longer, about 5-10 minutes.
To complete all PTS incentives, you need to complete:
25 Dynamic Encounters on Hoth as a Republic Character
25 Dynamic Encounters on Hoth as an Imperial Character
25 Dynamic Encounters on Tatooine as a Republic Character
25 Dynamic Encounters on Tatooine as an Imperial Character
If you are limited on your gameplay time, I suggest avoiding every Hidden Chain Invasion, Republic Attack!, Imperial Attack! as they are quite time consuming (5-10 mins), however they persist much longer then other Dynamic Encounters before they run out of time.
Providing Feedback
Remember when playing the PTS that the devs rely on your feedback to make any changes before the game update officially releases. This means if you experience any bugs during any Dynamic Encounter, you think any Dynamic Encounter is too long or difficult compared to similar ones or you find any exploits for them. Please make a thread on the PTS forum of swtor.com
Explain in detail the exploit, bug or grievance/issue you experienced with the Dynamic Encounter and include the name of the Dynamic Encounter you struggled with. It’s our job to report any bugs, exploits or annoyances we have before 7.6 releases later this year!
