Concerning the Future of TodayinTOR

When I first created TodayinTOR.com in 2021, I set out to merely document and record every known easter-egg, reference and trivia tidbit, rare item or free cosmetic in the game, as many had been lost to time from old websites that had been deleted or gone defunct (dulfy.net etc).


For the first year and a half, I ran TodayinTOR.com through wordpress and averaged 37 visitors per month. However as years went by and as my popularity grew online not just as a content creator but also as an experienced voice for players within the SWTOR Community, so did the viewership of my SWTOR fansite. By 2024, I had pivoted the entire basis of my content to making Guides for Endgame Content and Achievements in SWTOR, a far cry from the original intent of what I set out to do.


http://www.TodayinTOR.com had grown from 37 visitors a month a Discord of over 600 users, 2 active in-game Guilds, a YouTube channel, a half-dozen social media sites and my website was now averaging around 58.8k unique Visitors a Month and some of my top Guides being viewed over 400 k times! <3


With this increased ‘popularity’ has come cost that I can no longer afford, as my fansites webhost charges monthly bandwidth fees. When I first started TodayinTOR.com it was only $12, then as I updated the website and plugins, combined with bandwidth, file hosting and an ‘in demand’ Domain Name, it now costs over $100 US Dollars a month to maintain!!! Which is about $145 AUD for me.


I can no longer afford this.


Starting in April of 2026, I have moved TodayinTOR.com from my old provider to Google Sites, which is much cheaper. Unfortunately as part of this move, I have lost control of both the frequency and content of Advertisements displayed on my website, as well as my websites visibility on Google, as they have now Automated both the displayed Adverts and the SEO of my site. Google Sites are also not as fast as my prior Host and may also be automatically blocked in some regions (such as Ukraine, EU states and Russia due to local data privacy/protection laws).


At this point I am just rambling and doubt anyone has actually read this far. While I am still dedicated to bringing up-to-date and high level information to all SWTOR players, I am burned out both mentally and financially and it is likely that by the release of 8.0 that I will begin to stop or at least slow down covering SWTOR content going forward after 8.0.
