Dynamic Encounters

Dynamic Encounters are repeatable, time-limited quests in Star Wars the Old Republic. Many Dynamic Encounters are combat focused while others are whimsical and involve non-combat activities such as catching baby Tauntauns or herding Banthas.
Dynamic Encounters last for either 30 minutes or 45 minutes, with Hidden Chain Invasions lasting 1 hour. Dynamic Encounters repeat every 2 hours.
There are three types of Dynamic Encounters:
Easy – Dynamic Encounters that are very easy or have no combat. Group Shared Progress.
Group Shared: All players in your Group share Quest progress for NPC Kills during the Dynamic Encounter. Non-combat progress such as item looting is not shared.
Hard – Dynamic Encounters that either have several steps or a Boss fight. I suggest using a Heal Companion or play with a Group.
Encounter Shared: All players in the area share Quest progress for NPC Kills during the Dynamic Encounter. Non-combat progress such as item looting is not shared.
Hidden Chain Invasion – An uncommon Dynamic Encounter that only appears once per hour, can be completed Solo with a Healer Companion.
Encounter Shared: All players in the area share Quest progress for NPC Kills during the Hidden Chain Invasion. Non-combat progress such as item looting is not shared.
How to Play Dynamic Encounters
Every Dynamic Encounter can be completed Solo with a Companion or in a Group. To find which planet has Dynamic Encounters, look for these icons on the Galaxy Map.

After you select a planet on the Galaxy Map, you can use the Travel Window to see which Dynamic Encounters are currently active, and how much time is left on each one.

Once you have travelled to a planet with Dynamic Encounters, open the Map to see where they are located. Dynamic Encounters do not need to be picked up at a Questgiver, instead they are automatically added to your Questlog when you go to their location on the Map.

Trial By Fire Achievements

Trial by Fire has the most complex and time consuming secret achievements of any Dynamic Encounter, as all items from this encounter are Bound to Character, this means that in order to 100% Complete all Dynamic Encounter achievements, you will have to play this Dynamic Encounter on a single character, as several rare items must be collected together and are Bound-To-Character.
To accomplish many of these Achievements you will need a special item called the Encrypted Commlink Antenna that provides a special buff that changes the Dynamic Encounter.
This item allows you to complete 40 Lava Abilities (instead of 20) during the Dynamic Encounter however this means that you will need to choose between Charging and Activating the Kolto buff as a Solo player, or team up with another player who can heal you (or use their companion to heal you) so that you can focus on Drilling/Sensors.
No Healing Required Solo Strategy: Solo players Level 71+ can obtain the Refreshed Buff from Moisture Vaporators on Tatooine in combination with eating a Dewback Steak Sandwich before starting the Dynamic Encounter to avoid taking Fire Damage.
Obtaining both Buffs before starting the Dynamic Encounter means you do not have to Calibrate, Charge or Activate Kolto or Shields.
Players level 75+ can also use the Life Warden tactical kit to gain additional protection.
To unlock an Encrypted Commlink, the current working strategy is that you must complete the Bonus quest during the Dynamic Encounter, as well as Calibrate, Charge then Activate the Sensor 3 times within your 20 ability uses in a single Dynamic Encounter. This is RNG and it may take several Dynamic Encounters before you unlock a Commlink.

Commlink Buff Strategies: If possible I recommend bringing another player along to Heal you or have their companion Heal you as it is tricky to stay alive long enough to complete the Dynamic Encounter with the Buff Active.
Solo Player Strategy
You need to start by building both Calibrate and Charges for both the Shield and Kolto before you reach 20-25/40 quest progress.
Then focus on Drill Charge first and Sensors second.
Use Kolto as often as possible if you are below 50% HP and Shields once you reach 6 stacks or more of Fire Damage.
You need to use Charge/Activate on Kolto before reaching 30-35% otherwise you risk dying and losing progress.
No Healing Required (Level 71+)
Start by purchasing a Dewback Steak Sandwich at the Fleet Cantina. Wait for the Dynamic Encounter to start then travel to Tatooine and use a Moisture Vaporator to gain the Refreshed Buff.
Imperial Moisture Vaporators: Outside Mos Ila
Search for Vaporators in the desert to the East of the Taxi Point.
X:960 Y:2800
Republic Moisture Vaporators: Anchorhead
Search for Vaporators around outskirts of Town.
X:1960 Y:3280
Travel to the Dynamic Encounter Location and eat a Dewback Steak Sandwich before starting.
You will now take 99% reduced fire damage and will no longer need to charge, calibrate or activate Shields or Kolto to complete the Dynamic Encounter.
With a Healer
Having a group member or their companion Heal you completely trivialises the need to ever use or charge/calibrate both Kolto or Shields.
As long as you can be Healed, focus all of your energy on Charging/Calibrating and Activating only the Drill and Sensors.
For best results, you should try to reach a Depth of at least 6-10 or more before Activating Sensors.
As there is no risk of dying in a Group, I suggest attempting to OverCalibrate the Sensors if you are given the chance before reaching 15-20/40 quest progress.
- Terrible Tremors – Trial By Fire: Collect 10 accurate Tremor data from the Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter.
Commlink Buff: Solo-able (does not require Commlink)
Solution: During the Dynamic Encounter, make sure to Calibrate and Charge the Sensors at least once before you Activate them. There is a small chance you will be given:
1x Pinpoint Tremor Readings when the Dynamic Encounter ends.
Once you have collected 10 Pinpoint Tremor Readings (white item), right click them and the achievement will unlock, you will also be given a Green-colored Collated Tremor Data item, keep this item as it is mandatory later.
Will take multiple Dynamic Encounter completions on a single character to unlock.
Strategy: The best method to farm Pinpoint Tremor Readings is to Drill as Deep as possible first, then Calibrate and Charge the Sensor each time before using it. While you get double the attempts if using a Commlink buff, there is no guarantee you will get a Pinpoint Tremor Reading.
Ignore Calibrating or Charging Kolto, Shields and Drill where possible, spend all your focus on Drilling Depth first Calibrate/Charging and Activating Sensors as much as you can. - Off The Charts – Trial By Fire: Collect 10 accurate Temperature data from the Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter.
Commlink Buff: Solo-able (does not require Commlink)
Solution: During the Dynamic Encounter, make sure to Calibrate and Charge the Sensors at least once before you Activate them. There is a small chance you will be given:
1x Verified Tremor Data when the Dynamic Encounter ends.
Once you have collected 10 Verified Tremor Data, right click them and the achievement will unlock, you will also be given a Green-colored Collated Temperature Data item, keep this item as it is mandatory later.
Will take multiple Dynamic Encounter completions on a single character to unlock.
Strategy: The best method to farm Verified Tremor Data is to Drill as Deep as possible first, then Calibrate and Charge the Sensor each time before using it. While you get double the attempts if using a Commlink buff, there is no guarantee you will get Verified Tremor Data.
Ignore Calibrating or Charging Kolto, Shields and Drill where possible, spend all your focus Drilling Depth first then on Calibrate/Charging and Activating Sensors as much as you can.
- Magma Disturbance – Trial By Fire: Collect 10 accurate Flow Readings from the Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter.
Commlink Buff: Solo-able (does not require Commlink)
Solution: During the Dynamic Encounter, make sure to Calibrate and Charge the Drill at least once before you Activate them. There is a small chance you will be given:
1x Accurate Flow Data when the Dynamic Encounter ends.
Once you have collected 10 Accurate Flow Dataa, right click them and the achievement will unlock, you will also be given a Green-colored Collated Flow Data item, keep this item as it is mandatory later.
Will take multiple Dynamic Encounter completions on a single character to unlock.
Strategy: The best method to farm Accurate Flow Data is to Drill as Deep as possible first, then Calibrate and Charge the Sensor each time before using it. While you get double the attempts if using a Commlink buff, there is no guarantee you will get an Accurate Flow Data.
Ignore Calibrating or Charging Kolto, Shields and Drill where possible, spend all your focus on Drilling Depth first then Calibrate/Charging and Activating Sensors as much as you can. - Beneath the Surface – Trial By Fire: Collect 1 of each Blue L.A.V.A data during the Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter.
Commlink Buff: Does NOT Require Encrypted Commlink Buff but greatly recommended!
Solution: You must obtain the following:- Obtain 1x Report on Cyclical Heat Disruption by keeping the Collated Temperature Data in your inventory and Charging and Activating Sensors until you get the item as a reward.
A Drill Depth of 12+ and Commlink is recommended as it gives you more chances to unlock the item but not necessary. - Obtain 1x Report on Disrupted Magma Flow by keeping the Collated Flow Data in your inventory and Charging and Activating Sensors until you get the item as a reward.
A Drill Depth of 12+ and Commlink is recommended as it gives you more chances to unlock the item but not necessary. - Obtain 1x Report on Unusual Tremor Patterns by keeping the Collated Tremor Data in your inventory and Charging and Activating Sensors (again) until you get the item as a reward.
A Drill Depth of 12+ and Commlink is recommended as it gives you more chances to unlock the item but not necessary.
- Obtain 1x Report on Cyclical Heat Disruption by keeping the Collated Temperature Data in your inventory and Charging and Activating Sensors until you get the item as a reward.
- Once you have obtained all 3 of the above on a single character, right click any one of them in your inventory to unlock the Purple-quality Synthesized L.A.V.A Report item.

Reward!
Once you Collect all 5 Reports (blue items) you will unlock the L.A.V.A. Fitted Armor Set directly in your Inventory!

The Fitted L.A.V.A. Armor Set is only obtainable once per Character.
The Fitted L.A.V.A. Armor is Bound to Legacy however it cannot be modified with stats and can only be Dyed and used as an Outfit.
- Strategy: You cannot unlock the corresponding Report unless you have the relevant Collated Data Report (Green item) in your inventory first!
No Commlink: Keep the Green Collated Data in your inventory and begin the Dynamic Encounter.
Drill for a Depth of 10 and then Calibrate/Charge and Activate Sensors as much as you can and there appears to be a low chance you will unlock a Report (blue item) that matches the Collated Data (green item) in your Inventory.
Commlink Strategy: Keep the Green Collated Data in your inventory and consume a Commlink.
Drill for Depth of 16 or higher first, then Calibrate/Charge and Activate Sensors as much as you can and there should to be a high chance you will unlock a Report (blue item) that matches the Collated Data (green item) in your Inventory.
If you have all 3 Green Collated Data in your inventory, it could take multiple Dynamic Encounters to get all 3 Blue Data Reports.
- Auto-Calibrated! – Trial By Fire: Auto-Calibrate any of your L.A.V.A. Suit Systems during the Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter.
Soloable: Yes (does not require Commlink)
Solution: Use the Calibrate Ability on the Sensors, Kolto, Drill and Shield. Then keep charging skills until the ‘Activate’ Ability is replaced by ‘Auto-Calibrate!’.
You will know when the Auto-Calibrate Ability become available as the regular Activate Ability is replaced by a new Purple icon called ‘AutoCalibrate’!
- Volcanic Researcher – Trial By Fire: Collect 1 of each Accurate L.A.V.A Suit Data during the Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter.
Commlink Buff: Solo-able (does not require Commlink)
Solution: Collect one of each Accurate Data (white item) loot report.
This Achievement will unlock automatically when you Collate all 3 types of White-item data on a single character. - Strategy: You need to collect a stack of 10 Data (white quality) of a single type. Once you have collected a stack of 10 Flow, Tremor or Temperature, right click the item to ‘Collate’ it into a Data Report (green quality).
You should to do this for all 3 kinds of Data on a single character. - Junk Science – Trial By Fire: Collect all 21 unique inaccurate Data from the Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter.
Commlink Buff: Solo-able (does not require Commlink)
Solution: Spam Calibrate + Charge and Activate on the Sensors, do not Activate or Calibrate the Drill at all and you will eventually loot all 21 different innacurate Data items. May take multiple Dynamic Encounter completions to unlock.

- Truth Seeker – Trial By Fire: Found all 5 unique disturbance evidence from the Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter. This may take dozens of Dynamic Encounter completions to unlock as the quality of the data loot is RNG.
Commlink Buff: Requires Encrypted Commlink Buff.
Reward: Character Title: The Truth Seeker
Solution: This is by far the most difficult Achievement and requires ‘full completion’ of the Dynamic Encounter to obtain, on one character you must:- Obtain 1x Report on Cyclical Heat Disruption by keeping the Collated Temperature Data (green item) in your inventory and Charging and Activating Sensors until you get the item as a reward. The deeper your Drill Depth the more likely you are to unlock it.
(Commlink buff not required but helpful) - Obtain 1x Report on Disrupted Magma Flow by keeping the Collated Flow Data (green item) in your inventory and Charging and Activating Sensors until you get the item as a reward. The deeper your Drill Depth the more likely you are to unlock it.
(Commlink buff not required but helpful) - Obtain 1x Report on Unusual Tremor Patterns by keeping the Collated Tremor Data (green item) in your inventory and Charging and Activating Sensors until you get the item as a reward. The deeper your Drill Depth the more likely you are to unlock it.
(Commlink buff not required but helpful) - Obtain 1x Drilling System Damage Report which can be obtained as a rare drop when your Drill Depth is at 10 or more, then by Calibrating, Charging and Activating the Sensors.
(Commlink buff recommended) - Obtain 1x Recording of Disturbing Sounds which can be obtained as a rare drop when your Drill Depth is at 14 or more, then by Calibrating, Charging and Activating the Sensors.
(Commlink buff recommended)
- Obtain 1x Report on Cyclical Heat Disruption by keeping the Collated Temperature Data (green item) in your inventory and Charging and Activating Sensors until you get the item as a reward. The deeper your Drill Depth the more likely you are to unlock it.
- Once you have obtained the rare Recording of Disturbing Sounds AND obtained all 3 Reports, the achievement will unlock.
- Maximum Depth – Trial By Fire: Drilled to the deepest possible point during a single Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter.
Commlink Buff: Requires Encrypted Commlink Buff.
Solution: You need to reach 20 stacks on your Drill buff. This cannot be easily achieved in the regular Dynamic Encounter, so the Commlink Buff is required to give you enough time to build 20 Drill depth stacks.
Charge and Calibrating before Activating the Drill will give you extra Depth stacks.
You can keep Charging the Drill as much as you want before Activating the Drill, but do not Calibrate the Drill more then once, as there is no benefit from Calibrating it again.
Commlink Strategy
Solo Player Strategy
You need to start by building both Calibrate or Charges for both the Shield and Kolto before you reach 20-25/40 quest progress.
Then focus on Drill Charge and Calibrate.
Ignore the Sensors.
Use Kolto as often as possible if you are below 50% HP and Shields once you reach 5 stacks or more of Fire Damage.
No Healing Required (Level 71+)
Start by purchasing a Dewback Steak Sandwich at the Fleet Cantina. Wait for the Dynamic Encounter to start then travel to Tatooine and use a Moisture Vaporator to gain the Refreshed Buff.

You will now take 99% reduced fire damage and will no longer need to charge, calibrate or activate Shields or Kolto to complete the Dynamic Encounter.
With a Healer
Having a group member or their companion Heal you completely removes the need to ever use or charge/calibrate both Kolto or Shields.
Focus ONLY on Calibrating, Charging and Activating the Drill over and over.
Once you have hit a Drill Depth of 20 the Achievement will be unlocked.
- Hypercharged! – Trial By Fire: Hypercharge a single L.A.V.A. Suit Systems during the Trial By Fire Dynamic Encounter.
Commlink Buff: Solo-able (does not require Commlink)
Solution: Solution: Use the Charge Ability on the Sensors, Kolto, Drill and Shield. Then keep Calibrating skills until the ‘Activate’ Ability is replaced by ‘Hyper-Charge!’.
You will know when the Hyper-Charge Ability become available as the regular Activate Ability is replaced by a new Purple icon called ‘Hyper Charge’!
Highmount Ridge
All of these achievements can be completed by Republic or Imperial Players!
- Gentle Hands – Fur, Fur Away: Collect all 3 types of Icetromper Fur without getting kicked.
- Ice Trampled – Fur, Fur Away: Get kicked by all 3 types of Icetromper Fur while collecting Fur.
Strategy for Both: Watch other players get kicked or collect Fur from both Groups. Whichever Ice Tromper kicks, go to the other group to collect fur.
Or whichever Ice Tromper gives fur, go to the other group to get kicked.
- Expert Mountaineer – Snow Capped Delicacies: Use 100 Grapple points during the Snow Capped Delicacies Dynamic Encounter.
- Bloom With a View – Snow Capped Delicacies: Complete the Dynamic Encounter without having the Snow Cap buff expire.

Once you have cooked the Fish, eat it from your inventory. - Impulsive Eater – Ice Fishing: Eat a rare Fissure Sleeper Fish without cooking it, you need to let the debuff kill you.
Loot the rare Fissure Sleeper during the Dynamic Encounter and then right-click on it in your inventory.
Hint: Disable your companion and do NOT heal, let the buff kill you!
Note: The Fissure Sleeper Fish appears to drop as loot from the gold-enemy Ice cats that sometimes attack you while you are fishing. They are not found by fishing in the ice.
Icefall Plains
These achievements are only obtainable by Imperial Players.
- Cool Under Pressure – Snipers!: Use the Instant Shield buff to protect yourself from 1 Sniper shot during the Dynamic Encounter.
- Shields Up! – Snipers!: Use the Instant Shield buff to protect yourself from 20 Sniper shots during the Dynamic Encounter.
Shields Up! Bug: This Dynamic Encounter can be very buggy. For me only the Talz Sniper behind the walker counted progress for the 20 shots in the PVP Instance and only for the first person to start the Dynamic Encounter, when other players arrive it stops working for everyone!
We can assume the Dynamic Encounter is bugged.
How to Fix: I placed a Character at the Dynamic Encounter location and picked up both crates, I ran around and tried all 3 Snipers, using the shield. It did not work for any of them.
I then logged out and waited an hour on another character for the Dynamic Encounter to start again. When it started again I logged back into my first character that tried the Dynamic Encounter, the Sniper shots then started counting up to 20.
I think you have to log out inside the area during the Dynamic Encounter, wait for it to repeat and be the FIRST person to start the Dynamic Encounter on the SAME character for it to work.
Also note that only 1 of the Snipers counted progress for me, the other two did not. Making it very buggy.
Starship Graveyard

Dantooine Secret Achievements
There are several secret achievements that can be unlocked across the Dantooine Crash Site and their Dynamic Encounters.
There are several secret achievements that can be unlocked across the Dantooine Crash Site and their Dynamic Encounters.
Secret Advanced Research Achievements
There are three ‘Advanced Research’ secret achievements relating to using Research Notes to find the hidden Buff items in each Biome at the Dantooine Crash Site.
Both the Green Research Notes (Friend Rank) and the Purple Research Notes (Champion Rank) can be used to unlock these acheivements:

Research Notes are held in your characters inventory and can be shared between characters on your Legacy (via Mail or Legacy Bank). Once consumed (click on use), the Green Research Note gives you 60 minutes (1 hour) to find the Buff for the related Biome, while the Purple Research Note gives you unlimited time to find the Buff for the related Biome.
Advanced Research: Glacial Trespass Achievement

The Supercooled Crystalline Shard appears as a bright blue, spiked crystal and can be found all across the edges of the Glacial Biome, it can usually be found between tree roots and at the bases of the rocky entrances to the biome.
Advanced Research: Geothermal Disruption Achievement

The Ejected Sludge Container appears as a bright blue, square, toxic canister and can be found within the Geothermal Biome. The canister is most commonly found next to mining equipment within the caves or near the edges of lava all across the Biome.
Advanced Research: Sporefall Achievement

The Spore-Coated Mass appears as a bright blue, brain-like fungus and can be found all across the large round rooms of the Sporefall Biome, it can usually be found along the edges of the Biome, behind trees or inside bushes and under rocks.
Professor Cavalz Primal Rock
There is a secret rock belonging to Professor Cavalz that is hiding far away from the Basecamp at the Crash Site on Dantooine. You do not need to do anything special to get to it, aside from jump over a little ledge.

Locate the rocky ledge to the South-East of the Reputation Vendor, behind the grass and group of Pterathki. Jump up the rock and onto the floor above.

Mount up and follow the path behind the large crashed ship piece, go up into the path between the mountains. It is a long drive.

Once you have found the light of the camp, go around the rock and click the little yellow datapad ontop of the crate!
It will give you a short cutscene urging you to stay away from the special rock.
There is a sign infront of the rock with the worlds “Sample Emi-le” written in Aurebesh.
