Unlike other Companions, Altuur Zok Adon has a unique set of abilities in all 3 roles (Tank, Damage, Heal) that are not found on any other Companion in SWTOR.

While Altuur Zok Adon doesn’t have any particularly strong Tank abilities, his performance exceeds every other Companion in SWTOR when he is put into the Damage or Healer role due to his unique “Targeting Matrix” ability.
Outside of this ability, Altuur Zok Adon functions the same as any other Sniper using companion in SWTOR.

On paper or against a Training Dummy, Altuur Zok Adon is not the most powerful companion. However in practice against actual enemies in the game, Altuur Zok Adon outperforms other Companions due to his ‘Targeting Matrix’ ability in his Damage and Heal roles.

Altuur Zok Adon’s Target Matrix ability:

  • Damage Role: Targeting Matrix, 11.2 Second Cooldown – Marks the Target for 10 seconds, Marked Targets have their movement slowed by 50% and take increased damage from all sources by 10%.
  • Heal Role: Kolto Targeting Field, 10.9 Second Cooldown – Marks the Target for 10 seconds, Marked Targets take increased damage from all sources by 10%, and heals the player for 7.500 per hit. Defeating an enemy that is under the effect instantly resets the cooldown for Kolto Targeting Field.

This means that using Altuur Zok Adon in Damage role increases Altuur’s damage for 10 seconds, as well as yourself and any other group member or player attacking the same enemy, with a 1.2 second cooldown before the enemy is effected by Target Matrix again.

In Heal role, Altuur Zok Adon not only applies the same 10% damage buff to the enemy, but also automatically heals ALL players that damage the enemy for 7,500 health per hit you make to the enemy.
Uniquely in the Heal Role, the cooldown is lower than Damage Role, meaning there is less than 1 second cooldown before Altuur uses the Target Maxtrix damage buff again, and if you or any other player defeat the enemy while the buff is active, the cooldown is reset and Altuur can apply it to the next enemy immediately!

If two players are using Altuur Zok Adon against the same enemy, it is possible for both players to have Altuur use the Target Matrix buff at different times, this means that all players attacking the enemy will have a permanent 10% damage boost and bonus healing until the enemy is defeated.

Altuur’s Story Lore

swtor altuur zok adon

Unlike most other Companions in SWTOR, Altuur Zok Adon’s background and story is not told through Companion Conversations, instead you will need to interact with each of the 3 Decoration Rewards unique to Altuur Zok Adon’s Galactic Season (Season 1 and 10).

This means you will need to unlock the decoration, and then place them in your stronghold and interact with them to unlock more of Altuur Zok Adon’s lore through secret Codex Entries! If you do not own the decorations you will need to find someone else or another stronghold that has them.

These decorations include:

  • Kubindi Hive Farm – Unlocks the Hive Wars Codex Entry
  • Insecticulture Research – Unlocks the Insecticulture Codex Entry
  • Smuggled Art – Unlocks the Kubindi Codex Entry

Prior to their discovery of space travel, Kubaz clans sustained their insectoid-based diet by maintaining and harvesting their own hives. Civil unrest grew as sustainability among neighboring clans’ hives suffered. Continued shortages led to raids, which eventually resulted in an all-out war among the Kubaz, known as the Hive Wars.
The Hive Wars had a devastating effect on the Kubaz population. The war ended when Kubaz geneticists discovered Insecticulture, which offered new ways to genetically alter insects and assign them to specific clans.

Insecticulture is the genetic alteration of the color, size, and stamina of insects. This discovery ended the Hive Wars by allowing Kubaz clans to color-code their insect supply according to ownership, while also creating more sustainable and thriving specimens for all Kubaz hives.
The development of Insecticulture was vital to the survival of the Kubaz species, as it allowed them to restore lost numbers and regrow their population.

The Kubaz homeworld of Kubindi, located in the Ku’Bakai system in the Calaron sector of the Outer Rim, was once covered in dense forest and vegetation. After a constant barrage of extreme solar flares and irradiation from the neighboring blue giant, Ku’Bakai, the landscape became arid and dry.
To escape this harsh climate, the Kubaz adapted by developing massive underground hives in Kubindi’s cavern system.
