Everything you need to know about creating a character on Shae Vizla or any other Server in Star Wars the Old Republic.

The new server launches for Subscribers on November 16th at 1pm CT / November 17th at 6am AEDT.  Subscribers will have exclusive access to the server for 24 hours before it is opened to all players. 
The server will be open to all players on November 17th at 1pm CT / November 18th at 6am AEDT.

This guide covers all the key elements you should consider while playing, in the order that you are most likely to experience them while levelling a New Character from 0 to Max Level.

Check Your Mailbox

One of the first things you should do upon creating a New Character is to check your Mailbox.

If you have been playing SWTOR for a long time you may find rewards such as Mounts, Companions, Armor Sets and EXP boosts waiting for you. Claim them to your inventory by opening each Mail and claiming the Attachments.

There is no rush to claim everything right now! They will stay in your Mailbox permanently until you Claim or Delete them so don’t be scared about running out of Bank or Inventory Space.

Collections Unlocks

If you have been playing SWTOR for a while you have probably Unlocked quite a few things in Collections. While your Species Unlocks haven’t come with you, other Unlocked Items such as Cartel Market Armor Sets, Weapons or even Galactic Seasons Companions may be immediately claimable on your New Character!

Inventory Slots

As you level and journey throughout SWTOR you will loot a lot of items and be given even more as Quest Rewards. As such you will find that your inventory will constantly be filling and you may not always have immediate access to a Vendor or NPC to sell your unwanted items.

Expanding your Inventory costs Credits (optionally Cartel Coins) and should be a staple part of your Levelling Process, it is relatively inexpensive per character if you wish to fully expand your Inventory.

Datacrons

Datacrons are Clickable Objects scattered or hidden across Planets in SWTOR. Each one permanently unlocks a Stat Boost for every character in your Legacy, New and Old. Datacrons you have found are tracked in your Legacy Window.

I suggest finding each Datacron on your character’s Starter World before leaving, otherwise you may have to backtrack later.

You can view which Datacrons you have collected by opening the Legacy Window (default Hotkey: Y) and clicking the Exploration catergory across Each Planet in the Achievements List.

While there is a Datacrons button found in the Global Unlocks tab of your Legacy Window, it does not show ALL of the Datacrons found on each planet, only some of them. This is why you should check your Collected Datacrons by the Achievements Tab per Planet instead.

Crew Skills

When you finish your Starter Planet and arrive at the Fleet for the first time, I suggest immediately heading over to the Priority Missions Terminal on the Left Side of the Staircase once you leave the elevator and starting at least the Crafting Trainers Tutorial Quest.

This quest will reward you with a big EXP boost for visiting all 14 of the Crew Skill and then another big EXP boost for completing the Quest by talking and training any Crew Skill.

Crew Skills are SWTORs crafting and gathering Skills, where players send away their Companions to craft Combat Boosts, Armor, Weapons, Cosmetics and More!

As Shae Vizla is a brand new server there is no established economy or prices, so pick whatever Crew Skills you like the most. However if you are interested in Raiding once you reach endgame, then I reccommend picking Biochemistry to access Reusable Boosts once you reach Level 80.

Biochemistry – Crafts Medpacs, Adrenals, Stims, Implants.
Armstech – Crafts Ranged Weapons, Ranged Weapon Mods, Augments, Augment Kits
Armormech – Crafts Tech Class Armor, Armor Mods, Augments, Augment Kits
Cybertech – Crafts Ear Pieces, Mods, Enhancements, Grenades, Spaceship Parts, Mounts
Synthweaving – Crafts Force Class Armor, Armor Mods, Augments, Augment Kits
Artifice – Crafts Melee Weapons, Melee Weapon Mods, Crystals, Dye Modules, Relics

Gathering
Bioanalysis – Gathers Materials in the Open World for Biochem.
Scavenging – Gathers Materials in the Open World for Armstech, Armormech and Cybertech.
Archaeology – Gathers Materials in the Open World for Synthweaving and Artifice.
Diplomacy – Gathers Medical Supplies on Timed Companion Missions.
Investigation – Gathers Components on Timed Companion Missions.
Underworld Trading – Gathers Fabrics and Underworld Metals on Timed Companion Missions.
Treasure Hunting – Gathers Gemstones on Timed Companion Missions.

Slicing – Supplemental: Gathers Materials and Lockboxes for many Crafting Skills.

Buy Strongholds

If you have 5,000 credits by the time you reach the Fleet, buy the Dromund Kaas or Coruscant Stronghold, which can be unlocked in the Strongholds Quadrant of the Fleet.
Once you reach Level 15 you are also able to start a Quest from the nearby Hologram that will give you free decorations and a few credits when you visit your Stronghold for the First Time.

If you cannot afford a Stronghold when you arrive at the Fleet, you can always do it later on Dromund Kaas or Coruscant when you reach Level 15 as the Quest and Stronghold Sales Terminal can be found on your Faction’s Capital Planet marketplace.

As you continue to play SWTOR, consider spending money on Expanding your Strongholds Rooms and buying New Strongholds. Each Stronghold you expand and each new Stronghold you purchase will increase your Conquest Points (CXP) Bonus EXP multiplier.

Legacy Bank

The Legacy Bank is a Storage container that lets any character on the Server deposit and withdraw items and Credits for easy sharing between characters. I suggest storing your credits in your Legacy Bay if you are a Free to Play or Preferred Player to avoid reaching the Character Cap of 1 million Credits.

Each Legacy Stronghold Bay can hold 80 items and you can pay credits to unlock more Bays.
The maximum amount of Credits you can store in a Legacy Bay is 100 Billion.

To use the Legacy Bank you must own at least 1 Stronghold on the Server. This means you must buy a Stronghold first even if you never visit it.
The cheapest Strongholds you can purchase is the Coruscant or Dromund Kaas Stronghold for 5,000 Credits each.

Join A Guild

Guilds provide many benefits in SWTOR, namely being in a Guild provides an immediate Boost to your Character’s Reputation and EXP earning while you are logged in.
Remember that you cannot earn Conquest Points until the next Tuesday after you joined, and that you cannot withdraw items from a Guilds Bank for 30 days of being in any new Guild.

Guild’s are a great way to join a likeminded community of players that play the same way you do or play content you want to learn or enjoy playing. There are many different guilds out there with their own skill levels, gameplay preferences and requirements.

If you feel that you do not fit into a guild you have joined or accidentally joined the wrong guild, you can leave at anytime by typing /gquit .

Legacy Unlocks

The Legacy Window expands once you have reached level 10 and completed your Storyline on the Starter Planet of your Character on a New Server, once you pick a Legacy Name to represent all of your characters you will unlock the complete Legacy Window with all of its features.

Once you have Created your Legacy you will be given new options to Unlock features and speed up parts of your Gameplay in exchange for Credits.
I suggest working on the Other Tab under the Global Unlocks Catergory, here you can purchase Server-Wide reductions to Quick Travel, Fleetpass and Unlock Rocketboots; a boost Mount that can be used in restricted areas and while Stealthed.

Legendary Status

Legendary Status is more then a Title! As you complete all 8 Storylines on your path to Legendary Status you unlock permanent Stat and Performance Boosts to both your Companions and all Character’s on the Server.
These include permanent 5% Damage Reductions, Damage Boosts and additional Presence Stats.

For every Storyline you complete you will even unlock a special Heroic Ability that can be used alongside others during Activation of your Heroic Moment Ability.
