The Sith Pureblood Species was officially made Canon in 2017 in a 3rd Grade kids book for Star Wars based on the Force Awakens.
However it would not be until 2023, nearly 30 years after their creation for the Expanded Universe would their Legends appearance be made officially Canon in the February 2023 issue of the Doctor Aphra (2020) Comic-Book series by Marvel.
The Sith Pureblood species first appeared in the Tales of the Jedi release on the 1st of February 1995, specifically the Tales of the Jedi 5: The Saga of Nomi Sunrider, Part 3. However the Sith Species also appeared concurrently in the same Tales of the Jedi comics in the Dark Lords of the Sith series 1-6 as early as 1994 in reference, and appeared a month after the Nomi Sunrider release in March of 1995, in a later issue of the Dark Lords of the Sith.
While the Sith depicted in the Jedi comics of the 90’s looked similar but also different in design to their SWTOR counterparts. Most people today, and most star wars fans in general have only ever seen Sith Purebloods from SWTOR and other material, as the Tales of the Jedi comics from the 90s faded into obscurity. Even other Star Wars media from the 90’s such as the Thrawn Trilogy and the Shadows of the Empire series had a much longer lasting effect then the KOTOR era comics that would pre-date the videogames we know and love today.
Their brief appearance in the Doctor Aphra comic retains their appearance from Legends canon, keeping their bright red skin as well as trademark forehead and jaw ridges and mandibles.
